Bad Bacteria |
Microbes are tiny organisms that cause diseases such as; strep throat, ear infections, and pneumonia in people. Microbes were first discovered in the late 1600s, but the idea that these tiny organisms could cause these diseases did not develop until the 1800's.

D. Briefly explain the term Germ Theory of Disease.

the three main componints of that theory are the shape, the year they were discovered, and who discovered them. they contribute to louis pasteur because he was the man that found the cure for smallpox he also found out what created smallpox. the theory is that if a diseas is caused by bactiria then other people can get infected.
Scientist (Life Span)
Occupation Most Famous Contribution to Science Other Contributions to Science
Robert Hooke (1635-1703)
Scientist/ Inventor Made drawings of individual cells in plants. Made Microscopes to observe
microscopic things
Rudolf Carl Virchow
He is cited as the first to recognize leukemia cells.
In 1869 he founded the Society for anthropology,
Robert Koch
Robert found that ponds were where malaria started Identified microbe that caused “Anthrax” which was killing thousands of cows.
Florence Nightingale (1820-1910)
Wartime Nurse
Florence Nightingale syndrome is a term used to describe a situation where a caregiver, typically a doctor or nurse, develops an emotional attachment to a vulnerable patient in his or her care. Churches commemorate Nightingale with a feast
Joseph Lister
The first man to do modern surgery Became the vice president of surgery
B. The 3 main components is the fundamental unit of structure and function in living organisms, all cells arise from preexisting cells by division, and all known living things are made up of one or more cells.
C. Louis Pasteur made food and bevarges better by making sure where it was made was clean and bacteria free so that no one will get sick from the bacteria that might be in other places.
D. The germ theory of disease is that behind every disease there is a germ that will make you sick if not treated.
the three main compnets of that theory are that all living things have cells, new cells come old cells dividing in two, and also cells are the basic biulding units of life. he started
Molly O'Hearn Core: D
B:
The three main components is
1)All living things or organisms are made of cells and their products.
2) New cells are created by old cells dividing into two.
3)Cells are the basic building units of life.
C:Louis Pasteur did research on the process of pasteurization of milk. He found that he could kill bacteria if the milk is heated to a temperature that will kill bacteria. He named this bacteriology and made a new theory called The Germ Theory of Disease. He thought that diseases were caused by germs attacking the body from the outside.
D: The germ theory of disease is a theory that says microorganisms are the cause of diseases.
B. All organisms are made up of one or more cells. Cells are the basic unit of life. Cells arise from pre-existing calls by division.
C. Today people keep milk in the fridge to keep cool. What some don't realize is that you keep the milk cold to prevent it from spoiling quickly. It also prevents bacteria from getting into the drink.
D. The Germ Theory of Disease is the theory that microorganisms are the cause of many diseases.
Lauren Brown, core D
B: The three components of the cell theory are that all living things are made out of cells, the cell is the basic unit of structure and function of living things and cells are produced by other living cells.
C: Louis founded the process of pasteurization, which states that if milk is not kept cold it will spoil easier. We still use this today by usong our fridges to keep our milk cold.
D: The germ theory of disease (also called the pathogenic theory of medicine) is a theory that proposes that microorganisms are the cause of many diseases.

Rudolf Carl Virchow (1821-1902)
Contribution to the cell theory and was the first to sight leukemia cells. founded the Society for anthropology

Discovery bacteriology
Koch's postulates of germ theory
Isolation of anthrax, tuberculosis and cholera Identified microbe that caused “Anthrax” which was killing thousands of cows.
Florence Nightingale (1820-1910)
Wartime Nurse
Pioneering modern nursing, famous contribution came during the Crimean War a slim 136-page book that served as the cornerstone of the curriculum at the Nightingale School and other nursing schools established, though it was written specifically for the education of those nursing at home
Joseph Lister (1827 – 1912)
The first man to do modern surgery findings developed antiseptic techniques for wounds
1. new cells are formed from other existing cells, and that the cell is a fundamental unit of structure, function and organization in all living organisms.
2. made food clean and bacteria free so that no one will get sick from bacteria
